Points of Interest

The name Soorakdui has several possible origins. Possibilities include the asura Sooran worshipping here, or perhaps Sooriyan (the Sun God) venerating here. The third possibility is that it comes from the soorai shrub which grows in abundance in this area.

The Sooraimanagar Puranam narrates the story of the temple

Location 10 kms from Karaikkudi.
